I AM A NEW PERSON

I AM A NEW PERSON

By Rev. Marilyn L. Redmond

In a meditation, I rise out of the universe and beyond. I found myself in the unlimited sunlight. From this view, I see the endless horizon. The feelings of abundance and prosperity fill the air and are within me. This occurrence lasts for the morning. I know it is all there is and available for me. I feel the presence of All That Is immersed in love.

Archangel Michael tells me that the path is clearing for the unhealed core issues to surface and be felt. My past vasanas are coming up and leaving as gut pains. I am reminded that Pure Love casts out all fear. My life had been fear based for years. This is uncomfortable but I slow down enough for the process to happen. I am familiar that when the good comes in and the unresolved emotions leave. Having been a workaholic and over achiever, this is a challenge. I describe this process in my books at Amazon. I was told years ago when my mental illness erupted, to say, "Yippy, skippy it is leaving".

In addition, I am informed that I will be the one in my family to heal six generations of family anger. Realizing that I had been living in my parents' woundedness become real. These stuffed feelings were the basis for many of my emotions and finally can leave. Now, with 40 years of recovery from a background of sexual abuse, domestic violence, mental illness, addictions, past lives, and medical related issues to get my attention, with more old fears as worries, and negativity finally surface to leave

I had no feelings for years. When I was younger, I stuffed my ordeals to survive. Identifying these past issues daily for many years at a conscious and soul basis and releasing them has brought authenticity. I had been stuck at the age of an emotional three year old from seeing my mother beaten by my father, thinking I was next. I identify the source of each these old emotions to heal and let them go. I describe the process in "Paradigm Busters".  I am told, growing up, is not for sissies. Growing up from my first time on earth until now has been my full journey, to let go and let God.

Now there is space for love and grace to fill me. I see life as neutral and I do not need to see events as good or bad. It would take a book to relate my spiritual journey from the Pleiades and my path of past lives to currently help others and raise the consciousness of the planet from my experience and wisdom. They just are there to influence my moving into reality.

Now, I understand as my friends leave over time, that our energies no longer match. Attracting healthy people brings a new life filled and surrounded in love. I understand when I am filled with love, that is the amour of God, and negative energies repel. Turning on the light within brings the truth and reveals itself.

I release more core issues as I rise out of the universe it feels like I have moved out of the blue print for my life challenges. Safety is the complete relinquishment of attack. No longer defending myself through past neglect, abandonment, wanting to die, or future worries, has given me a new set of eyes. I feel like a completely new person. I forgive, have compassion, and thank those people for providing the opportunities I needed to identify my core issues allowing me to return home.

My eyes look back at me from my mirror in my bedroom in a self-assured and complimentary way I never saw before. Seeing me as a normal person with confidence is new. Sensing myself as younger surprises me as I am calm and comfortable. With this new inner experience, I approve of myself before leaving to do errands.

I went to my appointment driving with a fresh, bigger, and more rational vision of clarity feeling empowered. I like my authority. I even joked with the person helping me, which was a first for me and walked away feeling normal. A kind man opened the door for me to leave as I use a cane.

Driving home, I cry listening to the very high tones of a violin concerto on the radio. The resonance is so beautiful that I merge with the tones. Another pointer verified my change as I enjoy the warm sun sitting on my patio. I viewed the leaves on the tall trees surrounding my home shimmer in the soft winds as the sunshines on them. Their iridescence is so glorious that I fill with ecstasy for the magnificence of nature and the universe. Michael tells me that I am one with the "Source of All There Is"  as I experience the positive energy in all things. Life is good.

A New Christmas Story

By Marilyn L. Redmond

Christmas is a time for gifts. What kind of gifts are you giving this year? I always met my obligation to have gifts for the family members. This was not easy when growing up without an allowance and only a few babysitting jobs. Over the years, they were always given from duty. Somehow, I managed to find items that were useful. I had fulfilled my requirement.

I was not supposed to receive gifts because I was not worthy. Therefore, I did not have any real sentiment in the giving or the receiving. As I was emotionally shut down from my past trauma, I only acted as if I were into the gift giving. The packages at Christmas were very pretty in the colorful season wrappings and bows. I performed the wrapping of the gifs as a routine needing to be accomplished.

My unemotional life was the only one I knew at the time as I grew up and into my marriage. Holidays were not a joy to which I looked forward. My feelings were shut down and a holiday did not change that until I changed my life style when I needed to recover from a past of neglect, abuse, and trauma. The doctor told me I was dying.

I was living in fear where I swiftly reacted in survival reactions. I did not have life skills. Fortunately, I found answers for recovery into becoming a living human being. There was another way to address life. Finding a spiritual path that could replace the fear with love was unique and novel to me. Because I had nothing to lose, I decided to try this new path of faith and trust.

Gradually, I was able to release the past baggage of harms, people, and situations that were the bases of my life. I had never heard of faith in church or how powerful that could be. Growing in faith, I told myself. God I need more faith for this one, here we go again. I did feel faith come in. I continued to do this as I had more difficult life challenges emerge. Each time as my faith grew I was able to respond in more appropriate ways with loving practical actions.

Then I realized I had never trusted anyone, as my parents were mentally ill. I was neglected as a child. If you cannot trust your parents how do you trust a loving invisible energy, to be there for you. This was a big awareness for me. Over time, I was asking for the willingness to trust my Creator.

As I grew in this awareness, I realized that I had seen a commercial years ago about an insurance company. They were promoting people to trust in them. The advertisement showed a man on the edge of the cliff. He was invited to walk off the cliff into the hands of the insurance company and rely on them. I thought of my stepping into the hands of my Creator where I would be safe. This step of faith was not easy. However, as I was practicing faith, I realized that trust was not harmful and would bring me a conscious connection in a relationship with my higher power. I saw my challenge as an opportunity as if I were stepping up stars each time needing more faith for the next scary experience. It felt like I kept adding faith with the next step up. I felt more confidence over time.

With my newfound trust and faith, I continued to release the past baggage of fear, guilt, shame, resentment, anger and more. Replacing each one with love and grace felt good. . It made room for the next higher feelings to have space. I was camping at Death Valley National Park when in meditation. I actually felt grace and it was not just a word now it was a feeling.

Over the years while continuing to peel the onion, I now realize that it is also called growing up. I was outgrowing the past of a fear-based life from earlier mistreatment. The barriers to that truth are not blocking it like in the past. With many years of releasing the past and future worry, I moved into an experience of finding The Great Reality deep down within me. I have a new pair of glasses. I see only the love.

Love does heal. Lately, my medical concerns are improving. It feels like I am healing those conditions. I never felt so good; I am a happy, contented person and love my days helping others. In sharing my experiences, strength, and hope, I have a new life. Becoming a new person brings wonderful gifts, I never expected. Receiving respect and being honored by friends is a new world. I am not the same person who was dying years ago.

Changing my inner consciousness into love allows me to project the love of my existence and brings self-love and self-esteem. I see the light at the end of the tunnel, finally. My gift this Christmas is that I am still alive 38 years after the doctor told me, I was dying. . My Christmas gift this year is celebrating my new life and that I am still alive to enjoy the blessings that have been waiting for me.

LIVING IN REALITY

Over the years, I learned to let go of past painful luggage and future worries for a daily pleasant mood. Moving into the present or “Now” is another way to say I am emotionally here at the time, and awake in my life. To move out of the past trauma of the family that was passed onto me was essential. I have almost died 13 times and wondered why all these experiences happened.

I found that I carried the emotional trauma of my parents and was defending myself by shutting down for protection against my being killed as they had experienced this threat growing up in their lives. I was perpetuating my being killed. Like in the movie "Ground Hog Day", I kept coming back. In my trying to protect myself through tightening my physical body was a way I unconsciously thought would save me.  Along with the conditioning through religion and the culture, I did not believe I was a worthy person.

Trying to compensate for being worthy, I became a workaholic and overachiever to prove myself too worthy to be killed. This week I went into burnout from all the work, I continue to do even in my older years way past retirement. This gave me time to meditate and receive the patterning of being threatened to be killed had actually attracted me to a marriage where he often tried to kill me.  At several points giving up on myself, I tried suicide.

This means the work of releasing hurtful feelings and experiences of the past brings me out of reacting from the harms of growing up and my family history passed on to me. When releasing fears and childhood false beliefs, there is room for my inner love to blossom. Freeing those thoughts and ideas not aligned with love, created the space where love can expand. My life gradually improved with self-searching, pray, and meditation. Growing beyond fears, past harms, and false beliefs is often called maturity or Christ Consciousness.

Now, facing life's challenges is possible. Life around me seems different. I am not seeing issues around me in the same perception. They never died and I have not died from the hostile occurrence. I now understand we are threatened with death through religion, medicine and other cultural lies. Our soul never dies as shown in the movie. We keep coming back. We can release the lie for the truth of everlasting life like our Creator as a child of a caring universe.

My new vision sees a bigger picture. It feels like I am not being caught up in the drama of politics, religions, medicine, or family. It is a sense of being in the “eye of the hurricane”, where it is calm. The winds are blowing beyond me; however, they are not affecting me.

I first recognized my new experience at my fellow's family Christmas meal several years ago. They were his family and he would not miss their traditional Christmas morning brunch. In the past, being around members of his family was uncomfortable. It was not an easy event for me. I was in a room of people where I was not part of the family; I felt out of place.

However, this year, I was present, feeling composed, pleasant, and calm instead of reacting to the drama as I had in the past. I did not have the same negative feelings. Everything seemed neutral; however, they had not changed. It took me some time to realize it felt like serenity. My issues were dissolved and gone. This new experience was pleasant, but unfamiliar. I had changed by not reacting to them. Could I do this with the rest of my life? I found myself emotionally moved away from my conclusions of the past, to accepting each person as they are. I had moved into being current.

I know today that those situations outside of me are a representation of what I need to heal in me. This understanding formed a new me; I had been my own foe. I do not have to relive my parents or my old nightmare anymore. Today, I have self-love. I do not need them to love me, take care of me, or keep me from being lonely. I am worthy and was born valuable. My inner spiritual awareness is alive and well, taking care of me better than anyone has ever in my past. . Finally, I am content with those around me and myself.

"Live and let Live” is a slogan that I finally understood. I release the anger and expectations from what went on before. Seeing those who had been distressing to me in the past was providing me with another issue within myself to heal. Everyone is exactly where he or she is supposed to be in his or her experience. Understanding that they are being themselves, and it is not my job to change them, is emerging in my life.” Later when old emotional problems surfaced from my side of the family, I found I could place myself in the calm center again. It comes from within and not from reacting to those around me.

If I focus on what I am doing and send forgiveness, love, and accept those around me, I am acting mature. This peace surpasses all understanding. I have now joined the realm of reality. I establish a conscious contact with my inner spirit to keep me in the present.

Surprisingly recently, I found myself in grief. Feeling grief is new to me. Letting go of the old me was bringing up sorrow for the past leaving and dying. However, I like the idea of my previous feelings and difficulty leaving. The earlier issues are no longer a concern. They are history and no longer relevant to my being present now. I am detached from my earlier years of troubles, people, and situations. Living in the moment is a gift and why it is called The Present.

Culture is about unworthiness   Life is about joy.

Firing The Ego

MARILYN L. REDMOND, BA, IBRT, ABH

Growing up I did not know I had choice in my life. This was not an option in my marriage, either. When I was divorced, I started driving out of state to the Santa Barbara's Writers' Conference in California. People shared their writing during the sessions. I shyly shared my piece with the group. After the gathering, a woman came up to me and whispered in my ear. "You always have choice."  I thought to myself, she never grew up in my family.

Going to counseling for help in recovery from my traumatic past, I found out you could change your thinking and feelings. This was new wonderful news to me. I proceeded to find new ways to approach life that would be more productive for me. Spiritual groups were supportive, but the real answers for me also came from the 12-step programs. One step has you release the past problems, negative feelings, or difficulties. This gave me a choice to release what does not work for me. I found it a gift to let go of the past harmful feelings and abuse.

I heard in meditation that when I release the past of what I do not want, I was to replace it with what I do want, because nature abhors a void. Releasing the past in contemplation was more productive than just saying it. It takes me to a higher consciousness of my soul to become real.

Continuing to identify each difficulty and release my many fears, resentments, guilt, and shame, I had an amazing experience. While camping in Death Valley National Park, I was meditating on a beautiful sunny day with all the magnificence of the park around me. I felt grace from head to toe replacing the problems I had released. Grace had filled the void left. It felt like cozy billowy cotton balls soft and warm filled me. I continue to release each fear, anger, resentment, guilt, and shame from the past, for love to replace them. I wanted more of that good feeling.

It was in my thinking; I was my own enemy. I read that I had to release all the barriers that I had created; they stopped grace. I read a cartoon one Sunday in the funny papers with a character, Pogo in the strip written by Walt Kelly. He said, "We have met the enemy, and he is us". Taking responsibility for undoing my old ideas, beliefs, and behaviors from fear were mine to change. I was glad to see how I could still improve my life by facing the truth about my old mindset doing me in.

I am still finding old ideas I had forgotten from years back to reframe into being positive and supportive of the life I want today. I needed to move from listening to my head voices from the past and move into my heart. That is where I hear the loving guidance and directions from love and not fear.

Understanding that the ego, Edging God Out, of my life was the problem, today, I merge God in. Finding affirmations to support my new feelings, thinking, and actions brought great results. Affirmations replace my thoughts with positive, productive ideas to remind me of the new life I want.

My first affirmations I received were from therapy my first day. I came home with the list of affirmations and read them while I was in a lawn swing in a sunny afternoon. I had a wonderful loving feeling and light rise in me and I never had felt so good. I placed the list by the bathroom mirror to read twice daily every time I brushed my teeth. After repeating them time after time, I found they were becoming part of my life automatically. They actually were creating a new pattern of thinking and behaviors.

While staying with my minister's family during drastic times in my marriage, I had read a lovely poem on the wall of his dining room. I saw the vibrations of the words leave the paper. I realized if I put positive poems, sayings, or ideas on my walls, they would radiate the message into my home. I now have affirmations, slogans, and positive comments in several rooms. I have angels' pictures and figurines placed in every room, and I even play CD's that have constructive messages.

Most of the old barriers are gone today; however, I find it is a lifetime process. I still find old ones to let go and let God replace. A couple fears from my childhood just surfaced in an unusual way. I found my dental problems are coming from an old fear early in my life when I was afraid to tell the truth. Fortunately, today, I am around people who are honest and respect truthfulness. That is not the old situation anymore. I can release that old thought.

There is nothing wrong with the core of me and who I am. I have patterns to unlearn, new behaviors to embody and wounds to heal. I am unlearning generations of harm and remembering love; it takes time. God's love and energy, peace, and harmony flow through me.

My book, "Paradigm Busters" at Amazon and Barnes and Noble has the details chapter by chapter, of how I released the past negativity in my life to replace it with love and grace.  I moved from victim to victory. My books are being distributed internationally to prisons and used as a booked study in San Quentin. I was just included in the current, prodigious book, "Who's Who in America. This concept is explained further in my books,

Life Transforms Inside Out

My life required an appeal for love to manifest in my heart. Discovering that it is necessary to invite it into my life was an awakening. I sat in a church pew for 50 years but did not have a conscious connection with a God of my understanding. Hearing this information created a spiritual awareness. Moving into my heart has changed my life into a love-based life instead of a fear-based one. This was the missing part.

Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Through following the advice of “Trust God, clean house, and help others”, I began exploring. I have been scrutinizing my life for thirty-six years. My childhood and marriage were domestic violence and abuse; I could not trust the people in my life; they were not trustworthy. How do you trust something invisible as a Creator? Finding myself in perilous difficulties of life or death numerous times, it was obvious there was something bigger than me keeping me alive.

Accepting and practicing faith in this higher power changed everything. One night seeing angels keep me alive from my husband trying to kill me was the turning point. This experience brought an understanding that has become a faith that is strong today.

One evening a couple years ago, I fell down full force in an asphalt parking lot from a hole that needed to be repaired. The lighting in the area was poor. I got a black eye and my right arm, shoulder, and wrist were injured and very painful. I fortunately had help to get up as my arthritis prohibited my standing up from the ground by myself. I luckily did not have any broken bones; however, I did break my glasses. The brain concussion put me out of business of helping my clients, writing, and artwork for several months.

Now, I am able to see the bigger picture of why it happened instead of blaming the church for poor maintenance. Resting while using ice on the painful parts of my face allowed the healing to happen, I found the reasons for this experience.

There were several lessons from this event. First, I recognized that my old terrified energy had to leave. Fear that I would be beaten since the age of three, when I witnessed my mother battered, needed to be felt and released. Since that old threat is no longer valid in my current life, it needed to leave my consciousness. It was an opportunity to move into a new mindset beyond the past. I finally understood their fights were between them and were not about me.

In addition, I had been fearful of a black eye in my marriage, which would have not been good when I went to teach at school. My black eye gradually healed from the fall and was less purple each day. I know today that what you fear becomes a magnet to attract it. I was ready to release my fear of a black eye from potentionally being beaten. Today, I am not in relationships to fear this. It is no longer relevant and those feelings needed to be expressed to flow out of my unconsciousness.

Another major issue was to take responsibility for attracting the incident to me. These challenges are set up for me to move beyond by a script we write before we arrive on the planet. In addition, I found that my projects had to stop so I could put space between my old life and new one. Fortunately, I was able to resume from recovery in a more realistic pace in my life. Having to be in bed to heal, I was now able to bring to a halt to being a workaholic and overachiever.

Lastly, I never thought about suing anyone or blaming the church for poor maintenance. It was needed so the new energy of love could fill the void left. These early fearful energies from the past needed to depart and this was the opportunity. I accepted that is was a necessary reality for my spiritual progress.

Moving up the ladder of perception is my goal. Life is about moving from being selfish to selfless. The film, Ground Hog Day, has become one of the acknowledged classics of American comedy. It is the story of a TV weatherman, Phil Connors, who is forced to live the same day, February 2nd, repeatedly until he gains some insight into his life. He changes into being helpful and caring to others.

This is not an easy process. I grow into having a sense of being worthy and self-confident. Recognizing I saw life through the eyes of a terrified child, made sense. The old perceptions needed to leave, as they are no longer relevant.

My task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within myself that I built against it. With thirty-six years of cleaning and releasing, my fear-based negative thoughts, communication, and behaviors from my traumatic and abusive past, I have grown into a more compassionate and caring person.

Learning about emotions and how they are to flow through me and not stay stuck from past         circumstances makes the difference. Emotions are energy in motion. I need to allow them to move on so I am free of the past still influencing my current experiences. Then, I am open to live in the moment which is a gift and why it is called The Present.

This brought a new pair of glasses. Now free to see that others were wounded children themselves passing on their pains to me was awakening. I have a choice to release the past harms and not continue on the course of my parents' or husband's wounded path.

I can peacefully walk my own walk into maturity and love as an adult. It is necessary to move from denial, express it, and release it. With forgiveness, compassion, gratitude, and feeling the presence of goodness within, I move into reality. My experiences bring wisdom. Today sharing my insight and understanding helps others. My weaknesses have become my assets.

LIFE CAN BE HEAVENLY

When I first read, there is a design for living that works in rough going I was taken back. I know how to die. Raised in a dysfunctional family of alcoholism, abuse, and mental illness I found I inherited their genetic and behavioral predisposition, including a liver that did not digest alcohol or mind and mood altering medications like a normal person. With a new understanding of why my life seemed like a nightmare brought the realization that I had a death wish; each drink or prescription pill was another nail in my coffin. Surprisingly, I knew at a deep level, I wanted to live.

I suffered and endured my adversity of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual maltreatment until I could leave for college. Unsuspectingly, I found a fellow at my first college dance, who also was in my music classes. For the first time I found someone, I could talk with and seemed to be a mutual companion. We married and raised a family. Over the years, life became more of a problem and I found myself playing out my parents' marriage of domestic violence.

When my husband tried to kill me the last time, I had called out to my God, ""Please help me, I really do not want to die." Within days, I ended up in treatment hearing information about the disease of alcoholism. Growing up in the forties, alcoholism was not common knowledge like it is today.

In rehab, I heard that I had a disease and I was not a bad person, but a sick person needing to get well. Through recovery, I found my husband and I had the same history of an abusive background, mental illness, and alcoholism. In treatment, I found my answers. I needed to persist into a sane and healthy life style. What did a toxic substance have to do with being beaten, strangled, or raped? How could I be insane, I had 7 years of college and taught school for many years with excellent reviews? Church never told to me to turn my life over to the care of a God, of my understanding.

I never had any understanding about why my life was the way it was. I was committed to get well. It made sense when I heard the universal law that "Like attracts like". I am alive today through applying the 12 step spiritual programs for healing my past. With newfound solutions and support, I could get a divorce and walk away from the insanity.

Then I needed a trusted person to share my fears, resentments, and difficulties. Expressing my harms and abuse was not easy for me. This was the first time anyone even listened to me, or I had any permission to speak up or have feelings about my past troubles. I did not have to block my emotions of the past. However, after finally telling my story, I started waking up into why my life was so complicated.

Over time, I realized that I had the very faults I blamed in my husband and that I had attracted the relationship to me as if I were a magnet. He was my mirror to what I had to change in me. In stopping the old cycle, I chose to live and not carry on in my old ways that perpetuated the problems. I wanted to release my side of the street. What goes around comes around. I could send out love and compassion to him for his horrendous childhood, instead of trying to defend myself. Now, I could send love and pray for him, which stopped the conflict.

I found out that defending myself feels like an assault to someone else. Learning that safety is the complete relinquishment of attack, I found my new inner message was telling me that my Heavenly Father loved me unconditionally. This mended my abandonment issues.

Subsequently, I attended a weekend workshop for answers to help me find new answers about my predicament. I heard the facilitators read the information and I heard it from their understanding instead of my reading it through my fearful ego/brain. All of a sudden, the light came on and I understood my dilemma and the solution.

Others at the seminar decided to offer classes to share this solution with others. I was asked to participate once a month as a leader. From helping others for 27 years, I found the answers to my own quandaries. Discovering that my fears attract to me the very dread I held, was huge to me. I was full of fear and needed to release them. The answer was to replace each fear into faith. I cannot have fear and faith at the same time.

In helping others resolve their resentments, I found that anger/resentments are from the past because life or people did not go my way. The answer was to release the past, as it is history. Forgiveness "gives up" the past "for" a new day. Living in the "Now" releases my anger.

When letting go of the past guilt and shame, it is possible to replace that with being a child of God, created in His likeness of love. After identifying each fear, resentment, guilt, and shame and replacing them with love and grace, brought a new perception. "Perfect love casts out fear." 1 John 4 "God's grace is sufficient" 2 Corinthians  12:9 Now, I can refill the space from what I do not want for what I do want.

I found life is an adventure to move forward and out of past harms of abuse or future worries, trauma, and neediness. I can now live in the moment which is a gift and why it is called The Present. Love never fails. Today, I am happy, joyous, and free of my ego. I have a life today beyond my imagination feeling good. I finally had a design for living. MOVE YOUR LIFE INTO LOVE

The ultimate 'How to" book is available now at Amazon. Paradigm Busters, "Reveal the Real You" in paper back or as an Ebook.  https://www.amazon.com/Marilyn-Redmond/e/B0069WIKDC

"Paradigm Busters" provides the reader with details for change in your life with each chapter. Through a series of steps that reframe your thinking, behavior, beliefs, and emotions, you will find relief. The definitive book provides real information to support transformation for enriching your life into love, prosperity, and well-being.

All life is an inside job and Paradigm Busters, https://www.amazon.com/Marilyn-Redmond/e/B0069WIKDC  explains how to practice a new response to situations instead of reacting from fear. Allowing the past harms and difficulties to release for love, and grace replaces the old personality for a new one based in love. This positive action changes you into being based in love. This becomes the new "cause" resulting in good results. The book addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth necessary to move forward into a new reality.

Since we create our own authenticity, this book offers the way for this shift in life to occur. Changing your old ideas to ones that provide positive returns is simple, but takes inner work. Replacing your history to no longer be your motivation, allows your true self to emerge.

Becoming a love-based person allows your inheritance as a child of a loving universe to manifest into your life. The real you will emerge as the kind, caring person you were created to be enjoying the fruits of your efforts as well being, health, happiness, and freedom to be yourself. Living in the moment is a gift and that is why it is called The Present.

The book took twenty-five years to write. Marilyn Redmond practiced the principles of the book as she was writing "Paradigm Busters". https://www.amazon.com/Marilyn-Redmond/e/B0069WIKDC  This moved her perception into a higher consciousness of love, compassion, and forgiveness. Leaving the past behind and living in the present offered her the ability to be emotionally present in life experiences and truly enjoy her experiences.

Some reviews show the power of "Paradigm Busters". My name is Kaci, I just read your book paradigm busters, and it has been changing my life. If I were in Washington, I would definitely travel to make an appointment, but I live in Georgia. I was wondering if you did sessions through Skype. Thank you so much for writing such a beautiful book. It has helped me with many of my anxieties about death, and it has contributed a lot to me working on bettering myself. The artwork in the book is so beautiful as well.

Sorting the Truth from the False

                                                                     Marilyn L. Redmond

There were several unspoken laws in our family. I lived in a lack of truth as telling the truth was a slip-up. Consequently, I did not tell myself the truth and lived in the fantasy of pretending that our family had no problems and that we were all right.

In the last column, I wrote about breaking the rule of "no talk". In my adult life, I no longer had to pretend. Instead of hiding the real story, it was essential for me to find a safe place to break the long time silence. Fortunately, there are support and recovery programs that support the ability to tell the truth with no reprisal. It became possible to share my fears and secrets safely when I found a higher power that would love me, no matter what I related from my past.

My earliest memories were watching my parents deal with life. As a child growing up, I never questioned their reactions to life situation. I lived in their lack of reality. Finally, I had to separate the truth from the false. This was frightening because I would finally have to remove my mask of looking good.

Breaking the code of silence was very scary at first. Was I betraying my family by stepping out of the shadows into the light of truth? I found enough courage to open up and expose the truth because I wanted out of my hell. At first, I wrote out my resentments, fears, and behaviors that plagued me. Facing these facts was not easy after years of hiding them.

My first honesty was with a counselor. A bigger picture enfolded seeing my denials, selfishness, and dishonesty. Cleaning up my side of the street was becoming necessary to bring facts into the issues. I never saw myself without liabilities before. It became obvious to me while discussing my reactions to life challenges, I had acted like the scared child that I was. I was still three years old seeing life through my survival eyes of seeing my father beat my mother. I had never grown up. I tried to be perfect so I would not be physically attacked. Seeing where I was fearful brought new insights.

I found that my biggest fear came from trying to avoid bodily harm. Discovering that as an adult, I could remove myself from unsafe places, was life changing. This would give me the ability emotionally to grow up. Claiming my power as a child of a loving higher power gave me the courage to take care of me. It was time to grow up.

Surprisingly, I found a new understanding after my opening up with a trusted friend who understood what I wanted to accomplish. It was the right time to start my journey of honesty, with myself and another person. One important piece of awareness was that every time I pointed my finger of blame there were three fingers pointing back at me, she informed me. If I were blaming others, I was not taking responsibility for my part.

I realized that my survival had created a selfish person by using others for my security. I was looking for love from parents who could not love. I married thinking I would find love. Growing up, I reacted in fear that I learned from my parents along with fear I experienced from my own abuse. As an adult, I have a choice to respond more appropriately.

Sharing my hurts and harms of growing up and from my abusive marriage were finally being told. As my parents had severe childhoods growing up, they had not matured, either. They could not teach me how to respond in loving solutions to life issues. I was looking for love in all the wrong places. My favorite quote from A Course in Miracles, says, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all of the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. It is not necessary to seek for what is true, but it is necessary to seek for what is false.”

I could release my fears as I moved into faith. Recognizing that I could not have faith and fear at the same time gave me choice. I prefer to walk in faith today and have outgrown the childish fearful reactions of my past. Now, I understood that I could move forward into a new adventure of being fearless.

My new journey was forward into the light, leaving the darkness. After responding in a positive way to life challenges, it feels like I am in the presence of love. I heard the phrase, "Turn to your Father of Light in all things". It now became clear to me the light would dispel the darkness as turning on the light switch in a dark room.

More understanding came as I sorted out my old thinking and ideas. I had worried about my financial insecurity from my mother's stressful childhood. Now, I realized that I always had a roof over my head and food at dinner.

My biggest illumination came while sorting out the truth from a childhood request. During the episode of seeing my dad beat by mother, I prayed to be off the face of the earth so he would not beat me, too. It was like a death wish. Every drink of alcohol or pill was a nail in my coffin. My addictions were killing me from the death wish of a three year old.

I finally understood that my father was never going to beat me. He treated me like a princess. I had spent a life living out the need to protect myself based in a false belief of a three year old. I emotionally had blocked his kindness to me from my false belief that I would be physically hurt like my mother. Recognizing that the arguments between my mother and dad were about their difficulties and not about me brought a new awareness. Releasing the past and future fantasies from my head is a gradual victory. I no longer need to listen to my brain’s messages that kept repeating from events that hold no meaning anymore.

Understanding that I wrote my life’s script to move my energy into unreserved love was a new piece of information. Transforming my thinking to forgiveness, compassion, gratitude, and unconditional love gave me a new perception. I can now see through the eyes of God and know all is good.  These people played their parts for me to discover reality. I could move from a fear-based life into a love- based life. I can choose to be a love-finder rather than a faultfinder. Finally, I found my inner peace.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Video with Rev. Marilyn L. Redmond talking about her path into Mental Health

What is mental health and how can a person overcome mental illness? Marilyn Redmond details the "how" to move through the process of returning to sanity. Through her experience, strength and optimism she explains the steps she used to bring her a new lifestyle and happiness. She talks about this on her video at You Tube titled, On Steps to Understanding Mental Health. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRxaoRWMEnc

Growing up in mental illness and not understanding what it was about, she did not let the label of Bipolar Disorder stop her from outgrowing the definition and keeping her in that box. She knows you do not have to let a diagnosis be a lifetime sentence.

Through her many counseling sessions, 12 step groups, and classes to learn healthy behaviors, she has learned that she did not have to compensate for what is missing in her life and act out her irrationality to life situation. Her family could not provide the modeling to grow up. She needed to find those answers on her own. When she heard it was a disease of no talk, no trust, and no feelings, immediately, she felt she had the answers to move beyond her past of being a secret.

When leaving treatment for addictions she continued replacing the prescriptions and alcohol with a daily spiritual program as suggested by the 12 step programs. Stopping all drinking and medications was difficult but brought her a rational mind to make rational decisions. She found that the toxic substances stopped her feelings, and emotional growth. Being sane and sober brought better results into her life as she lived the steps into sanity.

Replacing a daily spiritual program for the medications, made the difference. She could move forward out of her past trauma and reacting into responding in love to the challenges of life. Learning life skills, communication tools, and how to handle feelings now that it was safe to feel, were major lessons into reality.

With complete honesty and releasing all secrets about her own abuse, brought freedom to move from being a fearful victim into leaving the past behind with forgiveness. The past did not have to be relived in the old fearful survival of her growing up years. Learning healthy behaviors and outgrowing her co-dependency was a victory.

After reading the book, People of the Lie", by Dr. Scot Peck, she understood her mother's paranoid schizophrenia. Her mother could not be totally honest about her own abuse in her childhood and growing up, which included abandonment, sexual abuse, attempt by relatives to kill her, and ending up in a orphanage while her mother was sick. Marilyn took on many symptoms of her mother and found she needed to heal these emotional energies, too. This total cleaning out the old for living in the present, she calls the roto-rooter system.

In finding a spiritual trust in a loving universe, cleaning out her past harms, and being of service to others has brought a new life of living in joy, gratitude and the presence of love. Her Higher Power supports her in all things which allowed her to mature. She knows that love never fails and finding that love within her heart has become the foundation for a healthy life.

This information is detailed in her book, "Paradigm Busters - Reveal The Real You" at Amazon.com. It took Marilyn 25 years to write this book as she was growing into being a grown up. It has been an adventure to move out of the box of insanity into a world where all is good. Her other books at Amazon offer tools to include in the process of recovery.
